SLUMBER indie pop band

The line-up of Slumber was myself (under the moniker David), Kirsty McGee (who was at the time also the singer of the band Mrs Kipling, who released a couple of 7" singles on some US labels) and Amanda (as far as I know Slumber was the only band that she was ever in).

We never released much - only the Vinyl Japan 12"/CD "Sleep EP" (TASK21) and a 7" single "Holly And IV EP" (SUNDAY020) on Sunday Records in the USA. As for live performances, our only show was at the Heaven Records Christmas Party (opposite).

The fact that Kirsty lived in Sheffield, I lived in Nottingham, and Amanda lived in Manchester meant that we hardly ever saw each other. Kirsty and I would exchange demo tapes of songs, we would get together the evening before going into the studio, learn how to play the songs, and then go straight into recording them properly for release!

Interesting that for the "Sleep EP", we only had three songs but I wrote what ended up as the main song, "Sleepy Avenue", on the way to Manchester. Taught the others the song on the Friday evening and recorded it on the Saturday!
